BIG bugger !!

The best laid plans of mice and men ....... isn’t that how the saying goes ? I had such great intentions of walking at lunch time today – I even packed my bag before I went to work last night only to have the tendons in my right foot (over the course of the shift) give up the ghost !! The pain started about 1 ½ hours into the shift and by the end of the 4 hours I was hobbling around in absolute agony. We got home and Al strapped it up (I was happy to just get into bed with a sock on it !). I didn’t have a very good nights sleep as even the doona on my foot made it sore if it was at the wrong angle. When I woke up this morning I gingerly tried to move my foot in the hope that it would be better but no such luck.

To cut a long story short, the dr doesn’t know what it is – maybe tendons (but I didn’t do anything to pull them) – it’s not broken, it’s not gout and it isn’t bruised. So I have to spend a couple of days on crutches and see how I go. Luckily we actually own a pair of crutches as the three of us have a tendency to 'do' our ankles / feet / legs and it got costly hiring them each time !!!

This is all very inconvenient – as it is my right foot I cannot drive. Plus, more importantly, I can’t go walking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just when I had got myself all geared up for walking at lunch times – BIG BUGGER !!!!! I am really annoyed about this and was going to eat a lovely muffin and a chocolate (yeah right like that would help now that I can’t exercise !) but sensibility (is there such a word ?) prevailed and I got a Coke Zero out the fridge and have had that instead.

My plans for the weekend have changed slightly now that I am incapacitated – hopefully it won’t be for too long but if I know Al he won’t want me moving pavers etc on Sunday, I will have to take it easy unless there is a remarkable improvement in the next 24 hours.

On the food front, things are still good – haven’t managed to not have any sugar points (bar the WW dessert the other night – 2 ½ pnts) so have quite a few up my sleeve for any treats over the weekend. (Note to self – take WW calculator with me when I go out so that I can calculate the points value of what I want to eat - if it is in a packet !) I haven’t had any water to drink today – the toilets are too far away to be drinking too much – will try to up that again next week. The good thing is that I made a start on drinking water again – always a difficult thing for me to do.

Take care everyone, have a great weekend and be good !

P.S. - do you think I could earn any bonus points for having to walk using crutches - it's bloody hard work !!!! All I can say is thank goodness I have lost the weight that I have lost so that I don't have to carry the extra weight around on my hands.

Just caught up with your blog. What rotten luck to hurt yourself when you were so motivated and enjoying the exercise. Hope the weekend brings about a rapid recovery.

What a bugger Linda. But you can now put those crutches to work and practice lifting up your body weight with your hands. What an upper body workout that would be!!

Now don't try to do anything too quickly on that foot as you know that rushing it will only make the injury last longer. Did the doctor say you were allowed to swim? Perhaps if you get in the water and kick with the other leg, and use your arms, you will still get a good workout in without putting pressure on your dud foot ;D

You are doing really well to keep your motivation up. Keep it going. This will pass and you will come out the other end more determined than ever.

Thinking of you often xx

What a bummer, so sorry to hear about your foot, that's just gotta suck!

And I definately think you should get double points for the crutches as it is double the work lol.

Hope you have a great weekend, and hope the foot mends soon.

Aaagh, you poor thing! What shit timing, when you are so motivated with your walking!! I agree with the others, you should definately earn bonus points for crutch-hobbling :-)

Now relax, and let Al do the garden while you sit back with a nice book!!!
